The USF Bulls are Bowl bound after a decisive win at Raymond James Stadium

by Andrew Harlan

The Bulls (6-5; 4-3 American) clinched their 12th bowl appearance in the program’s 24 seasons at the FBS level with a dominant 63-30 victory over Tulsa (3-8; 1-6 American) on Senior Day at Raymond James Stadium. USF racked up 715 yards of offense, putting on a clinic in all facets of the game.

This marks the second consecutive bowl appearance under head coach Alex Golesh, making the Bulls one of the top programs in their first 24 years at the FBS level. They wasted no time asserting control, jumping out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter before Tulsa even recorded a first down. By halftime, USF was in full control, leading 42-7.

On the road to the Bowl

The Bulls’ offense was explosive, totaling 454 yards in the first half alone. They averaged a whopping eight yards per play and hit 10 of their season-high 16 explosive plays in the opening 30 minutes. The 42 points in the first half marked the most since 2015, when USF scored a program-record 51 in a blowout win over Cincinnati.

With the regular season wrapping up, USF will face Rice next Saturday on the road in their final game of the campaign. The 2:00 p.m. ET matchup at Rice Stadium in Houston will be the Bulls’ first-ever game at the venue. A win over the Owls would secure a winning record for Golesh in his second season as head coach.

After the Rice game, the Bulls will learn which bowl they’ll be playing in this postseason. It’s an exciting time for USF football—Bowl season is officially back in Tampa! Keep up with USF Football news on the school’s website.
